OWINGS MILLS, MD—AvanlonBay Communities plans to build a new community here at Hunt Valley Towne Centre. It has tapped Greenberg Gibbons, a developer of mixed-use, town center and retail properties, to build the first phase residential component of the project.

Briefly, Hunt Valley Towne Centre is a mixed-use development in Baltimore County. It has more than 50 retailers and restaurants, including Wegmans, Dicks Sporting Goods and Regal Cinemas. But the community wants to expand further, becoming the vaunted "live-work-play" community for which so many developments strive. The AvalonBay project, it is hoped, will bring Hunt Valley Towne Centre closer to that ideal.

The new community will be known as Avalon at Hunt Valley Towne Centre. It will be a five-story structure containing approximately 332 apartment units and 30,000 square feet of retail. AvalonBay will start construction this fall, with both the apartments and retail space hoped to completed in spring 2016.
