WASHINGTON, DC—The plan involving the construction of the 20,000-seat stadium for the D.C. United professional soccer franchise will be submitted to the DC Council on Friday by Mayor Vincent Gray and City Administrator Allen Lew.

The plan between the city and DC United calls for the team to build the $300-million stadium, while the city pays for up to $150 million in land and infrastructure costs.

Mayor Gray in a press briefing Wednesday said a remaining hurdle for the project is acquiring parcels on Buzzard Point, from professional tennis franchise Washington Kastles owner Mark Ein and the Super Salvage scrap metal yard, according to the Washington Post.

Both Mayor Gray and Lew have said they will use eminent domain to acquire the parcels if they cannot come to an agreement with Ein, who has been negotiating on behalf of both parcel owners. See story in the Washington Post.
