PHILADELPHIA—Locally-based general contracting firm Domus Inc. has been retained by the Philadelphia Housing Authority for a $20.9-million contract for the redevelopment of the Blumberg apartment complex here.

The contract calls for Domus to oversee the first phase of the rehabilitation plan for the Blumbeg complex, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The firm will be responsible for renovating a seniors apartment tower, constructing 57 rental homes on an adjacent vacant parcel and designing new streets in the Sharswood neighborhood.

The project also calls for the demolition of two existing tower buildings. However, that facet of the plan still requires approval from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. See story in the Philadelphia Business Journal.
