NEW YORK CITY—Lexus International has opted for Thor Equities' 412 W. 14th St. for an Intersect by Lexus boutique concept, due to open in the latter months of 2015. The carmaker will lease the entire three-story, 16,500-square-foot Meatpacking District property for a retail space that will also incorporate a café as well as a shop selling clothing and other lifestyle products.

The first Intersect by Lexus opened in Tokyo last summer, and the company is also planning a third location in Dubai. “Intersect by Lexus seeks to be a comfortable and inspiring space for interaction among people and between people and cars,” Mark Templin, EVP at Lexus, said last August. “These spaces will evolve as people gather and make connections. Not just a car company's space, rather a place for everyone to treat as their own unique place.”

In the view of Thor Equities, which owns three other mixed-use properties in the Meatpacking District, the Lexus concept store will be a good fit with the neighborhood. “The Meatpacking District's cutting-edge aura has long attracted tech giants and fashion icons, and now will be home to Lexus' futuristic luxury concept space which will offer a state-of-the-art experience,” says Melissa Gliatta, an EVP with Thor. “West 14th Street is the epicenter of culture, dining and fashion and is the perfect corridor for the world-renowned Lexus brand.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The space, which also includes a 5,500-square-foot rooftop, previously was occupied by a production company.
