WASHINGTON, DC—A plan by the General Services Administration to offer two buildings in exchange for renovation work on two of its other properties could be delayed at the very least.
The D.C. Preservation League has nominated the GSA's regional office building at 301 Seventh St. SW for historic landmark status. GSA Administrator Dan Tangherlini recently proposed giving the GSA regional office and nearby Cotton Annex at 300 12th St. SW to a developer or developers in exchange for renovation work at GSA main headquarters property and Department of Homeland Security consolidation, according to the Washington Business Journal.
Another potential roadblock to any building swap deal by the GSA comes from U.S. Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton who has questioned whether the Office of Management and Budget would allow the GSA to use public-private partnership authority to swap the buildings for renovation work.
