TUSTIN, CA—Standard Pacific Homes is breaking ground today on Greenwood in Tustin Legacy, the first traditional single-family home community at Tustin Legacy here. The new community will offer 375 upscale homes at the intersection of Park Ave. and Victory Rd., slated to open in Spring 2015.

Tustin Legacy is a 1,600-acre master-planned community located on the former Tustin Marine Corps Air Station. MCAS Tustin was commissioned in 1942 and played a critical role in Navy and Marine aviation for more than 50 years. The base officially closed in 1999, and the MCAS Tustin Specific Plan was adopted by the City of Tustin in 2003. Upon build-out, the community will be a pedestrian-oriented mixed-use district that integrates a variety of uses and activities including offices, retail, restaurant and entertainment uses.

Greenwood at Tustin Legacy will feature homes ranging in size from 1,800 square feet to 3,979 square feet, with large-scale open spaces such as gourmet kitchens flowing into expansive great rooms and spacious master suites. The community will offer a choice of four unique collections of home designs and a variety of community amenities including a central park, trails, an amphitheater, basketball court, bocce-ball court, children's splash pad, community clubhouse and pool.

According to Michael Battaglia, Southern California VP of project development for Standard Pacific Homes, “Tustin Legacy is one of the most important parcels of land in Orange County. Greenwood in Tustin Legacy marks an important milestone in the history of the City of Tustin, and we are delighted to partner with the City to bring thoughtfully planned two-story, single-family home designs to this most prestigious setting.”

Development is getting underway at Tustin Legacy on a number of projects. As GlobeSt.com reported last week, the City of Tustin is setting the wheels in motion for Cornerstone at Tustin Legacy, a 43-acre office-development site here. The site, which will be the first phase of office development at the former marine base, is located along Barranca Pkwy. near the intersection of Red Hill and will serve as the south and west gateways to the 1,000-acre-plus Tustin Legacy project. CBRE's Ted Snell, Chris Bates and Eric Snell have been selected to handle exclusively the marketing of the project to creative-office and R&D users. Primary targets include those in the tech, software and hardware industries; medical/health companies including health services, bio-med, medical apparatus and pharmaceuticals; financial-services companies; and active-apparel design.
