WASHINGTON, DC—The State Department has filed a notice that it will begin a study of a major consolidation to relocate workers from leased space in the region to owned space at an 11.8-acre campus west of its Harry S. Truman headquarters building at 2201 C St. NW in Foggy Bottom.
The agency is planning to draft an environmental impact statement to study the details of the consolidation initiative. The State Department occupies more than 60 buildings and 8 million square feet across the region. The department is hoping to relocate many of its workers from leased space mainly in Rosslyn and Foggy Bottom to the government-owned campus, known as Navy Hill and the Potomac Annex, according to the Washington Business Journal.
The General Services Administration posted its notice concerning the planned consolidation of the State Department operations on June 17 and has scheduled a pubic scoping session on July 9. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
