NASHVILLE—Amstar just sold a trophy retail asset in Nashville. Southside at McEwen, a high-end grocery-anchored shopping center with Whole Foods front and center, has a new owner.

HFF managing directors Jim Hamilton and Richard Reid, along with senior managing director Mark Sixour, represented the seller. The buyer and sales price was not disclosed, however, TIAA-CREF reportedly had the trophy retail center under contract. Nashville Business Journal reports the shopping center was expected to fetch about $40 million.

"Southside at McEwen is one of the premier retail destinations in the Southeast, which resulted in one of the most highly contested retail offerings this year,” Hamilton tells GlobeSt.com. “The property is located in the Cool Springs submarket of Nashville, which is the high-end business, shopping, and entertainment district of the Nashville MSA."

Southside at McEwen came to market in 2013. Beyond Whole Foods, the retail center is also home to lululemon, fab'rik, charming Charlie, BrickTop's, Pei Wei, and Mountain High Outfitters.
