VIENNA, VA—Navy Federal Credit Union is hoping to build a major expansion at its corporate headquarters here but the scope of the venture could depend on the size of the incentive package it receives from Fairfax County.
The largest credit union in the United States has plans to build a 230,000-square-foot office building and a 1,000-space parking garage on property adjacent to its corporate headquarters in Vienna. The new building could house about 1,000 employees, according to the Washington Business Journal.
Navy Federal CEO Cutler Dawson says, "We've done some preliminary design work. The quickest option would be completing and moving in by the end of 2017. There's a bunch of things to work on, though. We need to go through permitting and see what kind of incentives might we expect for these type of jobs."
The credit union recently acquired two office buildings across from its headquarters campus on Electric Avenue. If its expansion plans get the go-ahead, those buildings would be demolished to make way for the new office building. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
