LINTHICUM, MD—Northrup Grumman Corp. has scheduled a groundbreaking ceremony for Monday, July 14 for its $20-million space payload facility here.
The company states that construction will begin this month on the 25,000-square-foot facility that will handle space payload integration programs. Upon completion in the summer of 2015, up to 80 engineers, technicians will work at the Maryland Space Assembly and Test (M-SAT) Facility.
The groundbreaking ceremony, scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., is being held at the back lot of the Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems' BWI Campus at 7323 Aviation Blvd.
Among those expected to participate in the ceremony include: U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin and U.S. Reps. C. A. Dutch Ruppersberger and John Sarbanes, along with Gloria Flach, corporate vice president and president, Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems, and other company officials.
Northrup Grumman employs more than 7,000 workers in Anne Arundel County, MD.
