ARLINGTON, VA—A year after the Arlington Board approved its PenPlace site plan, Vornado Realty Trust has submitted its plan on the Pentagon City development's three open spaces and the initial reaction has been very positive.

The PenPlace green space plan, which was submitted to the Arlington Board, was praised in a report by Arlington planners that called the proposal “well designed” and one that "will provide the community, workers, and visitors an attractive space to play, socialize, sit or walk through on a daily basis.”

The open space plan was crafted with the assistance of The Olin Group, and calls for the development of open spaces at The Central Green and plazas fronting 12th and 10th streets, according to the Washington Business Journal. The Arlington Board could vote on the open space plan at its session on Saturday.

The PenPlace development will total approximately 1.8 million square feet and include two 22-story office buildings, one 19-story office building, one 18-story hotel, one 16-story building originally planned for office use that may be converted to residential, and 50,000 square feet of retail.
