Raytheon, KDC Break Ground at CityLine

RICHARDSON, TX—Raytheon and KDC on Monday broke ground on a three-building campus for the defense contractor at KDC's 186-acre CityLine mixed-use development here. The 489,000-square-foot-office complex will house 1,700 Raytheon employees when completed in 2015.

“Raytheon has been a pillar of the North Texas business community for many years and we are proud to welcome the company to CityLine,” says Toby Grove, president of KDC. “Its new home will be fully integrated into the mixed-use components of CityLine and provide a highly energized and walkable environment for employees.”

Grove told the Dallas Business Journal Monday that the new facility at 1717 East CityLine Drive  will represent “a great opportunity for Raytheon to upgrade its facilities; it will allow them to attract and retain the best employees possible. He added that the project will be “a great job-generator and tax-generator” for the city of Richardson.

The CityLine complex will represent a move-over from Raytheon's Jupiter Road complex in Garland, TX, where the company has maintained operations since the 1950s. In March, Lynn Dugle, president of Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services, said the new facility would allow for expansion. She added, ““Our new offices will also help us support the missions of our customers and will better reflect our role as a global technology and innovation leader in such areas as information processing, big data, cyber security and weather data exploitation.”

Several options are being pursued regarding the future of the Jupiter Road site. Throughout North Texas, Raytheon has approximately 8,000 employees. In addition to IIS, Raytheon's Missile Systems, Space and Airborne Systems and various corporate operations are located in the area. Last year, SAS relocated its headquarters to McKinney, TX from Southern California.
