LAUREL, MD—The new headquarters project by Coastal Sunbelt Produce set to break ground soon will double the company's presence here.

The firm, which is owned by Coastal Cos., says it will break ground later this summer on its new 240,000-square-foot facility at 9001 Whiskey Bottom Road. The building is being developed by Preston Scheffenacker Properties and will be leased to Coastal, according to the Washington Business Journal.

The company currently occupies 171,100 square feet in the Corridor Industrial Park at 8704 Bollman Place. The move could add 500 jobs to the Howard County workforce.

"We believe the outlook for our products and services is strong, and we believe there is significant opportunity in our current footprint," says John Corso, CEO of the Coastal Cos. "Our mission is to be the Mid-Atlantic supplier of choice for produce and dairy. Our new state-of-the-art facility will continue to provide growth opportunity for our people and will enable us to achieve our mission." See story in the Washington Business Journal.
