WASHINGTON, DC—It took more than a year, but the General Services Administration has released its short list of possible locations for a new FBI headquarters.
The list released on Tuesday includes one site in Springfield and two in Prince George's County. The sites in Prince George's are the Greenbelt site and the Landover Mall. The site in Springfield is the GSA warehouse, according to the Washington Business Journal.
Some of the notable, albeit long-shot proposals that failed to make the cut include DC Mayor Vincent Gray's proposal at Poplar Point, the Westphalia Town Center and Exxon Mobil's Merrifield campus.
The next step in the National Environmental Policy Act review process will be public comment on the sites on the GSA's short list, which will be followed by the issuance of a request for proposals seeking qualified developers and later a solicitation for development proposals.
