LOS ANGELES—Heatwurx, an eco-friendly asphalt repair technology company, has begun selling franchises of its Dr. Pave subsidy. The international franchise rollout will be available in North America, Europe and Asia and have an investment cost of $80,000 to $150,000, including equipment.
Heatwurx recently relocated its headquarters to Southern California, and has had enormous success, repairing hundreds of commercial properties and roadways, and working closely with local California municipalities and utilities. “We felt this was a timely opportunity. After the roads and highways have been neglected and deferred for many years, local and state governments are putting money back in to infrastructure. It creates an opportunity for our concept, and we want to be part of that,” Dave Dworsky, CEO of Heatwurx, tells GlobeSt.com.
Dr. Pave is a cost effective and long-lasting asphalt repair solution that is guaranteed for 24 months, compared to the standard three to six month guarantees of other asphalt repair companies. The process uses infrared heaters that heat the damaged asphalt to 400 degrees. Then recycled asphalt and Heatwurx proprietary oil strips and polymers are mixed and set in place with the company's patented processor. It creates a water-resistant and permanent repair, which benefits both public roadway users and private parking lot owners. “For the commercial industry, this is a great product for owners to maintain parking lots without having to completely redo or renovate the lot,” says Dworsky. “This is a very cost effective approach to restoration.”
With the company's success and international attention, franchising was the logical next step—and the company expects strong investor interest. “Although we just launched yesterday, we have had a very exciting response preliminarily, and we look forward to a lot of discussion with folks from around the country,” Dworsky explains. “Our goals are pretty lofty, but we think they are realistic as well. We think we will be international in scope, and we suspect that in the next two to three years, we will have 200-300 franchises. We are very optimistic.”
