WASHINGTON, DC—Less than a year after acquiring the H Street Community Development Corp.'s headquarters, Douglas Development is now proposing a mixed-use project at the site.
The firm, which paid $5 million for the property at 501 H St., has submitted a planned-unit development application to the D.C. Zoning Commission that calls for approximately 26 residential units about 21,000 square feet of retail space in the basement, first and second floors. The six-story building, designed by Antunovich Associates, will feature a “rich and varied palate of materials, including cast stone masonry and steel,” according to Douglas Development's PUD application.
Prior to the sale of the property to Douglas last year, Jair Lynch had originally proposed a redevelopment of the H Street Community Development Corp.'s property but backed out of its mixed-use plan. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
