ARLINGTON, VA—Political news publisher Politico is expanding its operations and moving next door at Arlington's “twin towers” properties.

The firm has signed a lease for 72,000 square feet of space at 1000 Wilson Blvd., according to building owner Monday Properties. Politico is currently headquartered in smaller space next door, according to the Washington Post.

Tim Helmig, president and chief operating officer for Monday Properties, says the building owner will provide Politico “with the capabilities to operate in a 24/7 environment. We will provide a unique parking solution, a private outdoor terrace, back-up generator location, over 55,000 square feet of on-site retail amenities and unparalleled media-specific facilities. Moreover, the company is growing by leaps and bounds and we can accommodate Politico's expansion needs well into the future,” he says.

Politico and its parent company Capitol News Companywere courted by many Northern Virginia landlords who are struggling to cope with government space cutbacks.

Tom Fulcher, Art Greenberg and Adam Brecher of Savills Studley represented Politico in the lease negotiations.

Politico's short headquarters move will take place in the spring of 2015. See story in  the Washington Post.
