BOSTON—Isabel Acuña, a 21-year real estate industry veteran, has been promoted to director of project management for Avison Young's office in Boston.

Michael Smith, Avison Young Principal and Managing Director of the commercial real estate services firm's Boston office, announced the appointment. Acuña previously served as senior project manager for the company.

“Isabel has continually gone above and beyond expectations during her time at Avison Young,” says Smith. “Having already made a positive impact both internally and with our clients, it was a logical decision to provide her with increased opportunity for growth in the industry.”

Acuña joined Avison Young in 2012 having worked with companies such as The Walsh Company and Barr & Barr Inc., as senior project manager and project manager, respectively. During her time at Avison Young, she has represented notable clients, including Normandy Real Estate Partners, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tufts Medical Center, and MediaTek. In her new role Acuña will work with landlords and tenants, managing their projects during the pre-construction and construction phases.

Acuña received her Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the Tecnológico de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico. Following her studies in Mexico, she obtained her Master's degree in civil engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She received her LEED AP D+C (accredited professional in green building design and construction) in 2009.
