WASHINGTON—Add the Mayflower Renaissance Washington to the growing list of hotel properties in the district getting a makeover.

The improvement project is expected to begin in mid-October and be finished by mid-March 2015, according to the Washington Post.

The renovation will involve all 657 rooms at the facility built in 1925. Mayflower Renaissance Washington General Manager John Montano says that the hotel market in the district has changed since its last renovation 10 years ago.

“There have been big changes in the quality of guest rooms [in the Washington area] with the arrival of newer hotels. A lot of hotels have done renovations recently, and it's time for us to refresh as well,” he says.

Montano notes that the planned guestroom renovations come after the hotel began other capital improvements two-and-a-half years ago, specifically to the lobby and restaurants. See story in the Washington Post.
