TAKOMA PARK, MD—Government officials here report that four development teams have expressed interest in the Takoma Junction project.

The teams have submitted proposals for the project to be built on a 50,000-square-foot lot at the intersection of Carroll, Ethan Allen and Grant avenues, according to the Washington Post. The four teams are: the Ability Project, Community 3 Development, Neighborhood Development Co. and Keystar LLC with Eco Housing.

A critical part of the project is the future plans of the Takoma Park Silver Spring Co-op located next door. The co-op currently occupies 5,000 square feet of space but it is looking to double its footprint. All four teams expressed interest in working with the co-op, according to Takoma Park City Manager Brian Kenner.

“The co-op and its expansion are important to the future of the junction,” Kenner states. “Over time they have played a vital role in this community and for this important commercial corridor and we want to be supportive of them going forward.” See story in the Washington Post.
