WASHINGTON, DC—Lovers of Krispy Kreme in the DC region may have shorter drives in the years to come to visit their favorite doughnut and coffee shop.
Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corp. of Winston-Salem, NC has signed an agreement with Richmond, VA-based franchise operator Monument Restaurants to develop 20 new Krispy Kreme locations in the DC region over the next several years, according to the Washington Business Journal.
Although the parties did not divulge specific store locations, the new shops will be located in Southern Maryland, D.C., Northern Virginia and nearby counties. Krispy Kreme currently has stores in Dupont Circle, Rockville, MD and Alexandria, VA.
Monument Restaurants has acquired the Rockville Krispy Kreme store. Krispy Kreme still maintains ownership of the Dupont Circle and Alexandria locations. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
