WASHINGTON, DC—Douglas Development will begin work on its long-anticipated renovation of the corner of 10th and F streets later this year, adding a 94,000-square foot office property at 1000 F St., NW.

All of the retail tenants have vacated the existing structures and demolition is set to begin shortly, according to CBRE, which is the project's leasing agent.

Delivery is expected in summer 2016. Construction had originally been slated to begin at the end of 2013.

The architectural firm is Shalom Baranes Associates, which, as part of its design, incorporated the existing two-story designated historic structure at the site as well as the facades. It will be designed to secure LEED Gold certification.

The location is the last existing underdeveloped site at this particular corner in the city's East End, CBRE's Randy Harrell says in a prepared statement. "At this ideal location, 1000 F offers potential tenants a one-of-a-kind opportunity to occupy a newly constructed, boutique, and uniquely historic office experience," he says.

CBRE's Mark Klug, Max Friedman, and Abigail Todd along with Harrell are representing Douglas Development.
