ATLANTIC CITY, NJ—Developer Donald Trump on the day the property he originally developed Trump Plaza closed its doors for good here and his former Trump Taj Mahal is in danger of shuttering, issued a number of tweets that distanced himself from the current casino woes.

In one of his tweets, Trump hinted he may try to swoop in and save the two properties that he no longer manages, but still bear his name on the marquee, according to NJ.com. “I left Atlantic City years ago, good timing,” Trump stated on his Twitter account. “Now I may buy back in, at much lower price, to save Plaza & Taj. They were run badly by funds!”

In another swipe at the Atlantic City of today, Trump tweeted, “Does anybody notice that Atlantic City lost its magic after I left years ago.” He also tweeted, “It is so sad to see what has happened to Atlantic City. So many bad decisions by the pols over the years—airport, convention center, etc.”

On Friday, the ownership of the Trump Taj Mahal, which recently filed for bankruptcy, sent out layoff notices to its employees and is warning of a possible closure in November. See story at NJ.com.
