WASHINGTON, DC—It has been a while since a law firm has made head turns in the DC real estate community with the announcement of 100,000 plus lease. Venable has broken that dubious trend with the announcement it is moving from its current offices at 575 Seventh St., NW, to occupy 245,000 square feet at 600 Massachusetts Ave., NW, a newly-constructed office tower by Gould Property Co. and Oxford Properties.

The firm will occupy five full floors in the LEED Platinum certified building, and as well as additional space on two other adjoining floors.

Aaron Katz, Mike Shuler and Pat Nalls with Newmark Grubb Knight Frank represented Venable in the site selection process and negotiation of the transaction.

The Venable space is being designed by Alliance Architecture and will feature an open working area, a cafeteria and a two story multi-purpose room. There will also be a bocce court on the roof—apparently the firm likes a friendly, albeit competitive, game of bocce.
