CREC on Major Leasing Gig Role

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL—CREC is on the move in South Florida. The company continues to expand its leasing portfolio, most recently adding Weston Road Shopping Center to the mix.

The 105,929-square-foot shopping center is located at the intersection of Griffin Road and Weston Road in Davie, FL. That's less than a mile from Interstate 75 in Fort Lauderdale's Weston submarket.

Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers recently acquired the retail asset on behalf of a Cornerstone-managed fund. CREC's Steven Henenfeld, vice president and director of retail leasing, and Sabrina Meerbott, senior vice president and director of retail leasing, handling the leasing assignment.

“Weston Road Shopping Center is a strong performer in a high-end trade area,” says Henenfeld. “With a strong mix of both local and national tenants, the retail center's location draws from and services the surrounding densely-populated upscale communities of Weston, Southwest Ranches and Davie. Our goal is to continue to add value to the asset over time.”

Located at 4410 Weston Road, Weston Road Shopping Center is currently 99% leased. Office Depot and AC Moore anchor the center. T-Mobile, AT&T, and Dunkin' Donuts are also among the tenant mix. The last remaining space available spans 2,660 square feet of retail space.

CREC powered up for retail leasing growth in February, promoting Meerbott and Henenfeld to the dual roles of co-director of retail leasing. Both based in the firm's Coral Gables headquarters, the duo were charged with growing the firm's retail portfolio across Florida.

The timing is was accident. CREC said the promotional moves coincide with the state's improving economy and a growing number of national and international retail brands entering the Florida market and expanding their presence here.

Since then, CREC has turned around Palm Johnson Plaza and won an exclusive leasing assignment with Rialto for its West Sunset Square Shopping Center. The firm also is on tap to help Applebee's, Crunch Fitness, and the cinema eatery Flix Brewhouse find retail space, among other clients.
