TEMECULA, CA—In the past, commercial real estate has been predominantly a competitive market dominated by men. In recent years, women have taken a stronger hold of the market, allowing more opportunities for females to enjoy this fast-paced and competitive career path.  That is according to locally based Cyndi Light, SVP and partner of Coldwell Banker Commercial Sudweeks Group Retail Division.

“Woman believe in networking and helping each other become successful,” she recently told sister publication Real Estate Forum, where she appeared as a Woman of Influence.

One thing Light explains is that she feels fortunate to be a part of her company mentor program because it allows her to give her years of experience and knowledge to younger female associates; helping these women navigate through their chosen career. “It's not only about making money but also about taking excellent care of your clients so they become lifelong associates.”

Light has played an instrumental role in the growth and success the firm has experienced thus far. In three short years, through her transactional efforts and recruitment assistance, Cyndi has helped the firm grow from a start-up commercial brokerage office with just four associates, to a full-service commercial real estate and property management company that now includes over 30 associates with locations in San Diego, Temecula and Redlands.

Light has more than 25 years of experience as a director of business development in the telecommunications industry before she started her career in commercial real estate. She transferred her skill set and expertise to commercial real estate as the director of acquisitions for a regional development company. This position included sales, acquisitions and leasing of all types of commercial real estate. As the California recession hit and development efforts stopped, she transitioned into the brokerage world.
