ALEXANDRIA, VA—Hoffman Co. has filed plans with the City of Alexandria that seeks to increase the density and height of a section of the Hoffman Town Center in order to lure the Transportation Security Administration to the complex.
In March, the General Services Administration issued a notice that the TSA was seeking up to 625,000 square feet of space in Northern Virginia. The agency currently occupies five buildings, including two in Pentagon City, according to the Washington Business Journal.
Hoffman is proposing a 19-story building for the TSA totaling approximately 550,000 square feet with a parking garage that would accommodate about 1,000 cars on Block 2 at the center. The site is currently approved for a building of between 10 to 15 stories totaling 350,000 square feet.
Hoffman is also proposing a new 659-room hotel that would replace the existing 197-room, 101,000-square-foot Holiday Inn on Hoffman's Block 1 at the center. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
