HACKENSACK, NJ—The Saks Fifth Avenue department store at the Shops at Riverside shopping center here will shut its doors at the end of this year.

A spokesman for the retailer says the 105 department store workers will be transferred to other Saks locations when the Hackensack store shuts down at the end of December, according to The Record.

“Closing a location is never an easy business decision. At this time, we are committed to offering support and assistance to our team affected by the closing,'' says Marigay McKee, president of Saks Fifth Avenue.

Shops at Riverside owner Simon Property Group had a positive spin on the store closure. “We will be recapturing a highly desirable piece of real estate with direct visibility and ease of access from the busy Route 4—these opportunities do not come around often,” says Eric Sadi, senior vice president at Simon.
