WASHINGTON, DC—The General Services Administration will be holding an event next month geared at advancing President Obama's “Capital Solar Challenge” and bringing solar power to some of the agency's DC-area portfolio.
The agency has scheduled an Industry Day at its 1800 F St. headquarters on Nov. 13 to brief contactors on its solar program and a planned RFP the agency will release in connection with the solar challenge, according to the Washington Business Journal.
The challenge not only includes the installation of solar panels at some federal properties, but also the purchase of renewable solar power and energy performance contracts.
The GSA announced on Wednesday that it had awarded a power supply contract to purchase 140 megawatts of clean wind energy from the Walnut Ridge Wind Farm, which is currently in development in northwest Illinois. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
