PORTLAND, OR—“I don't think you can ever build the best team if you automatically exclude 50% of the players simply due to gender.” That is according to Real Estate Forum Women of Influence candidate, Elizabeth Davis, a director of Institutional Property Advisors, a division of Marcus & Millichap.
According to Davis, “By creating a professional environment that includes women in visible roles, it opens the doors for other women to feel comfortable working hard, speaking up, and growing in their real estate careers—focusing on results. By focusing on results and rewarding the smartest, most effective workers, male or female, everyone wins.”
Davis, who focuses on multifamily, has been directly involved in sales transactions totaling over $300 million in multifamily assets over the past two years for some of the nation's largest institutional real estate investors. She is the first-ever female broker with IPA.
Davis's first job was at the property level, at Oregon's premier super-regional shopping center owned by Macerich. She was director of marketing, leading a non-profit merchants association with more than 100 stores as dues-paying members.
“In all aspects of my work, I have always focused on creating places that help people live their best lives,” she tells Real Estate Forum. “Making places compelling to the people who live, work or play there, speaks to me.”
