HAMILTON, NJ—The Congoleum factory property here, which the township hopes will be redeveloped, has been sold.

Township economic development director Mike Angarone says that the site is finally under contract after months of negotiations, according to the Times of Trenton. Angarone did not reveal any further details about the transaction, including the identity of the buyer.

Congoleum, which has operated the vinyl tile flooring factory at the Sloan Avenue for some time, filed notice with the state Labor Department earlier this year that it planned to layoff 65 workers at the site.

Congoleum vice president Jim Monyak said this past summer that multiple possible buyers had expressed interest in redeveloping the site as a mixed-use or industrial site. The township has expressed hope to redevelop the 1 million-square-foot plant into a hotel or transit village. See story in the Times of Trenton.
