WASHINGTON, DC—The ownership of the International Spy Museum here has reportedly decided to vacate Penn Quarter and relocate operations to L'Enfant Plaza.

Jason Werden, a spokesman for the Spy Museum owner The Malrite Co., says the firm hasn't signed a lease yet but is in talks to move the museum to L'Enfant Plaza.

JBG Cos. owns most of L'Enfant Plaza. In June JBG opened a mix of underground restaurants, and shops after a nearly two-year, $46 million makeover at L'Enfant Plaza, according to the Washington Post. Britt A. Snider, principal at JBG, declined to comment on the report. The Chevy-Chase, MD-based firm owns 955 and 470-490 L'Enfant Plaza and has proposed to build 500 and 900 L'Enfant Plaza.

Previously the spy museum would have occupied more than 40,000 square feet in a newly developed underground space at the Carnegie Building. However, those plans were rejected by the Historic Preservation Review Board. See story in the Washington Post.
