ATLANTIC CITY, NJ—Trump Entertainment CEO Robert Griffin has offered an olive branch to union workers in an attempt to secure needed concessions to save the Trump Taj Mahal from an expected closure next month.

Griffin has offered Local 54 of UNITE HERE the restoration of full health benefits for at least two years if in return the casino's main union drops a court appeal over changes to its labor contract, according to the Press of Atlantic City.

In a letter to Bob McDevitt, president of Local 54 of UNITE-HERE, Griffin says Trump Entertainment would also contribute to a worker pension plan covered during labor bargaining sessions.

Trump Entertainment has also been working hard to secure property-tax relief and other incentives from the city and state of New Jersey to avert a December closing of the resort casino. Griffin says he expects Taj's main debt holder Carl Icahn to support the rescue plan. See story at the Press of Atlantic City.
