COLUMBIA, MD—Cisco Systems Inc. has decided to shift about 300 workers out of five Columbia buildings into a new operations center in Maple Lawn.
Cisco inked the 10-year lease with St. John Properties and Greenebaum Enterprises, Inc. for 97,128 square feet of space at 8135 Maple Lawn Blvd., a recently-completed four-story, 131,257 square foot office.
The company has also told state officials it wants to add nearly 200 new jobs in Howard County over the next several years, according to th Baltimore Business Journal. Cisco acquired Columbia-based cyber security firm Sourcefire Inc. for $2.7 billion in July 2013. Sourcefire had been looking for a new headquarters before it was acquired by Cisco and the search continued after the purchase.
As part of the deal, the state of Maryland is offering the company a conditional loan of $875,000. Howard County is offering up to $250,000 in property tax credits.
