ATLANTIC CITY, NJ—A major fitness facility will be part of the amenities at the Tropicana Casino & Resort beginning in May.
The gaming facility plans to open a 12,455-square-foot AtlantiCare fitness facility in May, part of a $35-million renovation of Tropicana financed by Tropicana Atlantic City Corp. and the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority.
The AtlantiCare LifeCenter Fitness at Tropicana will feature cardio and weight equipment, saunas and showers, and rooms for cycling, Zumba, yoga and tai chi classes, according to the Press of Atlantic City.
Tropicana Entertainment CEO Tony Rodio says of the project, “This isn't your average hotel gym," he said. “This is a full-service fitness center.”
The fitness center will managed by AtlantiCare, who will run it as a tenant, according to Rodio.
John Palmieri, executive director of the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, said in a statement that, “Tropicana and AtlantiCare's partnership is the perfect example of the kind of innovative collaboration that will help to diversify Atlantic City's attractions and balance its economy.”
Other renovations in the pipeline at Tropicana include improvements to the casino-hotel's Boardwalk facade and new retail offerings elsewhere at the property. See story in the Press of Atlantic City.
