ENGLEWOOD, NJ—Englewood Mayor Frank Huttle III has asked the city's Housing Authority to submit a plan later this year to develop age-restricted housing at the former Russell C. Major Liberty School.
Mayor Huttle made the announcement Tuesday at the City Council's annual reorganization. The mayor asked that the plan be submitted in the next 100 days, according to The Record.
“I understand this is a bold initiative, but that's what we are about,” Huttle says of the housing plan.
The Russell C. Major Liberty School, owned by the city, is currently being used for recreational and community programs. The mayor says the development at the school would be Englewood's first new senior apartment project in decades. See story in The Record.
