CHICAGO—The CCIM Institute has concluded a year-long search for a new EVP/CEO by appointing Walter S. Clements to lead the association. A CCIM designee himself and a senior instructor and course author in the institute's education program, Clements has more than 40 years' experience in commercial real estate.
Clements served most recently as president of Clements Realty Advisors, which provides consulting services to government and corporate clients. Through the course of his career, he has owned and managed several companies involved in brokerage, development, and property management activities in Michigan and Kansas. Beginning in 1990, Clements was an SVP and principal of the Midwest's largest full-service real estate firm for 14 years, specializing in investment properties.
As an instructor with the institute, Clements has taught CRE courses in nine countries. In addition, he was an assistant professor and director for the Lewis White Real Estate Center at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, MO, where he founded undergraduate and graduate degree programs in real estate.
Along with holding the CCIM designation since 1975, Clements is also a member of Counselors of Real Estate and a fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. He has served on numerous boards and committees for all three organizations.
