NEW YORK CITY—The Real Estate Board of New York's longest-serving president, Steven Spinola, will receive top honors at the association's Annual Banquet Thursday evening. Spinola, who plans to retire at year's end, will be presented with the Harry B. Helmsley Distinguished New Yorker Award, and will be one of six industry leaders to receive accolades during the awards ceremony.

REBNY membership has more than quadrupled from the 4,000-strong roster in place when Spinola assumed the presidency in 1986. In the nearly three decades since, he has been recognized as the New York City real estate sector's best-informed and most influential advocate.

“We are enormously proud to honor our dear friend Steven Spinola for all the spectacular work he does for our industry,” says REBNY chairman Rob Speyer. “For nearly three decades, through good times and bad, Steve's professionalism, thoughtful advocacy and generosity of spirit have inspired our community.”

Also receiving honors for the span of his industry career will be William Rudin, CEO and vice chairman of Rudin Management Co. and this year's recipient of the Bernard H. Mendik Lifetime Achievement in Real Estate Award. The Mendik award is presented each year to a REBNY member for a lifetime of “exceptional accomplishment in the profession and dedication to leadership in New York real estate.”

Barbara Fox, president of Fox Residential Group Inc., is set to receive this year's Kenneth R. Gerrety Huminitarian Award, recognizing meritorious service to the community by a REBNY member. Peter Hauspurg, chairman and CEO of Eastern Consolidated, will join a distinguished lineage of honorees for the Louis Smadbeck Broker Recognition Award, which honors an executive who exemplifies the characteristics of a successful commercial broker.

Two executives from the owner/developer community are also slated to be honored Thursday evening at the New York Hilton. Daniel M. Kindbergh, SVP of operations for Brookfield Property Partners' US office division, will receive the George M. Brooker Management Executive of the Year Ward. And this year's recipient of the Real Estate Young Man of the Year Award will be Glenn Weiss, EVP and director of leasing with Vornado Realty Trust.
