WASHINGTON, DC—The General Services Administration, after receiving some feedback from interested development teams, has loosened some bidding requirements in connection with the new FBI headquarters search process.
The agency, which has limited the search to three potential locations in Fairfax and Prince George's counties, has refined the developer's square footage requirement. The original RFP called for development teams to have access to at least $1 billion in credit or liquid assets and for the lead developer to have built at least 1.5 million square feet of office space in five years. The GSA has now amended the square footage requirement to now have that development threshold be in a 10-year time frame, according to the Washington Business Journal.
The GSA also bars foreign-owned companies from competing on the FBI requirement, but now allows U.S.-based subsidiaries to participate as long as they possess a Special Security Agreement in place and they mitigate foreign-control influence issues. The GSA declined to extend the bid submittal date from Feb.10. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
