UPPER MERION, PA—The National Park Service has made several historical buildings at the Valley Forge National Historical Park here available for commercial use. Several deals are in negotiation already, including one at the famed Maurice Stephens House.
“We've had a couple of groups through the building and one is interested in turning it into a café of sorts so that people at the park will have a place to go to get a cup of coffee and a bite to eat,” says the park's business manager Patrick Madden.
He adds, “Also, another group representing local art centers would like to turn this into an art center where people can come and take lessons and paint the landscape. It's a great spot. The hustle and bustle of King of Prussia is less than five minutes away and here it's practically silent. It's a nice getaway for people.”
The deadline for applications for Request for Proposals is Feb. 13, according to the Times Herald.
Also eligible for leasing are the Philander Chase Knox House and Kennedy Supplee Mansion. A deal for the Philander Chase Knox House to be used as a special events venue is expected to be finalized soon. See story in the Times Herald.
