NEW YORK CITY—Wesley Rudes—an industry veteran and a prolific broker of properties in Lower Manhattan—has joined Cushman & Wakefield as executive director. His recruitment is the latest in a string of recent significant hires in Cushman & Wakefield's New York office.
Most recently a principal with Cresa, Rudes brings 20 years of commercial real estate experience to Cushman. He has closed hundreds of Downtown transactions and has completed more than four million square feet of transactions, representing both tenants and landlords.
More specifically, Rudes recently closed a 135,000-square-foot renewal for a financial services company Downtown and, as a landlord's agent, he has represented 18 office buildings in Manhattan and elsewhere in the region.
“Wes Rudes has a first-class reputation among New York brokers as a master deal-closer specializing in the Downtown sub-market,” says Ron Lo Russo, president of Cushman & Wakefield's New York tri-state region. “We are excited by the influx of new talent into our firm and we expect Wes to make major contributions to our success.”
Rudes also has represented numerous mission-critical and telecommunications companies, including NYI, Velocita Communications, Con Ed Communications and Peer 1 Hosting, in acquiring and developing data center sites across the country. Earlier in his career, Rudes was instrumental in launching an initiative that leased pre-built, web-enabled space to 250 technology companies in Lower Manhattan, which helped spur the development of Silicon Alley.
He brokered the sale of the 675,000-square-foot 75 Broad St. and managed more than 300,000 square feet of acquisitions and dispositions on behalf of Portware, the New York Internet Company and Reliance Insurance. Prior to his tenure at Cresa, Rudes served as executive managing director at Murray Hill Properties and as a managing director with Newmark Knight Grubb Frank.
In addition to Rudes, Cushman & Wakefield in recent months has brought on Joseph Caridi, former COO for Colliers International, to serve as a senior managing director; Douglas Regal, formerly of ABS Partners Real Estate, as a director, and Seth Hecht, formerly of Colliers, as a director.
