GREENSBORO, NC—Ecolab Inc., headquartered in St. Paul, MN, will expand its Kay Chemical Co. operations here by building a new 37,000-square-foot office building here.

The $10-million investment will create 45 new jobs at Kay Chemical, a division of Ecolab that specializes in delivering customized programs to meet the food safety and sanitation requirements of the quick service retail and supermarket and grocery markets. The company currently employs more than 490 employees in North Carolina. North Carolina Gov. Pat McCory announced the expansion project in Guilford County on Wednesday.

“Kay Chemical Company has had a great corporate presence in Greensboro for years,” says Gov. McCrory. “By building this new facility and adding theses new jobs, the company is strengthening its continued commitment to North Carolina and to the city of Greensboro.”

"We have had a great relationship with this community for more than 80 years, and we look forward to continued growth of our Kay business in partnership with the strong workforce in the Triad area.”

The project was made possible in part by a performance-based grant from the One North Carolina Fund of up to $100,000. Salaries will vary by job but will include financial administration and sales. The average annual salary will be $48,209. The average annual salary for Guilford County is $43,581.
