TYSONS CORNER, VA—Macerich has filed plans with Fairfax County to complete the build-out of its Tysons Corner Center mixed-use development here.
Phases three and four of the project call for the development of three residential buildings, one office building, 133,045 square feet of additional retail and two large open spaces, according to the Washington Business Journal.
With the opening of The Silver Line that links Reston and Tysons with Arlington, and Washington, DC, Macerich states, "the benefits of the rail project will be fully realized and the transformation of Tysons from a previously automobile-centric, congestion-prone area to a walkable, livable, bikeable, transit-oriented community anchored by the Center will be complete."
The rezoning of the 78-acre parcel granted eight years ago has yielded phases one and two that featured the 553,360-square-foot Tysons Tower office building, a large public plaza, the VITA Tower apartments from Kettler and a Hyatt hotel. The VIT Tower and Hyatt hotel are to be completed this year. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
