WASHINGTON, DC—A proposed retail project to replace a surface parking lot here is now before the Board of Zoning Adjustments and could break ground in late 2015.

The project being proposed by McCaffery Interests Inc., on behalf of landowner the Weaver family, calls for the redevelopment of the 82-space lot at 3220 Prospect St. NW into a 30,000-square-foot retail strip center. The retail stores will be built atop a 96-space underground garage, according to the Washington Business Journal.

The project, formerly known as Prospect Place, was approved last month separately by the Old Georgetown Board and the Commission of Fine Arts.

According to the BZA filing earlier this week, the center could house clothing-oriented retailers. McCaffery hopes to break ground by late 2015 if it can secure all necessary approvals. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
