RESTON, VA—Fannie Mae, which recently struck a deal for new headquarters space in Washington, DC, is looking for a significant amount of office space here.
The GSE is seeking to lease approximately 180,000 square feet in Reston to support a new commercialization platform it is developing with Freddie Mac, says Fannie Mae spokesman Andrew Wilson.
Wilson says that Fannie Mae, which already owns and leases space in Herndon and Reston, has maxed out its space in Reston and needs to expand to accommodate the space needs for the new platform for the mortgage industry, according to the Washington Business Journal.
Fannie Mae announced a deal last month to relocate its headquarters from 3600 Wisconsin Ave. NW to the site of the Washington Post's headquarters at 1150 15th St. NW. Fannie will lease about 700,000 square feet there from Carr Properties. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
