IRVINE, CA—The Rockefeller Group says that Thomas McCormick, has been named senior vice president, national corporate accounts, a new position.  He joined The firm in 2004 as senior vice president, development, and opened the company's current Southern California office that same year.  He was most recently senior vice president and regional development officer for the western region.  He will continue to be based in Irvine.

In his new role, McCormick will leverage his national industry and corporate relationships to build the company's development pipeline across the United States, working closely with the company's urban and industrial development leadership, regional development officers and regional directors.  He will be charged with sourcing development and land-acquisition opportunities that fit within the company's stated investment criteria, and he will cultivate corporate relationships with the aim of identifying potential build-to-suit opportunities.

“Over the past decade Tom has been a very valuable contributor to the growth of our development practice on the West Coast, and this new role will elevate his expertise, capabilities and relationships to a national role on behalf of The Rockefeller Group,” said Vincent Silvestri, chief operating officer of The Rockefeller Group.  “His tenure and track record with the company make him keenly aware of our overall investment criteria for land acquisitions, joint ventures and build-to-suit opportunities, and we expect his leadership in this new position will further accelerate our development initiatives throughout the United States.”

During McCormick's tenure with The Rockefeller Group, the western region has grown considerably.  In addition to projects completed and sold, the company has an ownership interest in more than 1.5 million square feet of office, industrial and retail property in the region, along with 254 luxury residential units, and various projects planned or underway totaling more than 6 million square feet across four states. 

The company says he has introduced several of the its most important development relationships and built a significant track record of completed projects and projects planned or underway.  Completed projects have spanned all asset types, and have included the Outlets at Tejon, a 320,000 square foot retail center in Lebec, CA, the 80,000-square-foot VA medical office building at Seagate Corporate Center in Oceanside, and a 1.5-million-square-foot warehouse for General Mills in Fort Wayne, IN, among others.

Prior to joining The Rockefeller Group, McCormick was COO of Panattoni Development Company, where during his tenure the company became one of the largest industrial developers in the United States.  He began his real estate career in 1981 with Coldwell Banker Commercial.  In 1982 he joined what would become Colliers Macaulay Nicolls, a privately held Canadian-based commercial brokerage company with 85 offices around the world.  He served for three years as president of the firm before joining Panattoni. 

McCormick has extensive industry and corporate relationships and is active in many professional organizations, including the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors where he has served as national president of the organization.  He is a graduate of Fresno State College.
