ATLANTA—When it comes to high-value public sector projects, Atlanta is hitting on all cylinders. In 2014, the number of construction projects released for bid increased significantly.
Specifically, Atlanta saw almost 1,800 construction projects released for bid in 2014, with a total contract value of $4.47 billion, according to BidClerk, provider of construction project data and marketing tools for building product manufacturers, contractors, and distributors. That's a whopping 76% increase compared to 2013.
On a national scale, BidClerk reported on 162,000 commercial construction projects valued at $455 billion in 2014. The company reports an increase in the total contract values of more than $175 billion compared to 2013.
BidClerk points to an especially notable project in the Atlanta region: the Atlanta History Center renovation. CD Moody Construction Company is leading the charge on the $20 million project. MSTSD is creating the design.
Another noteworthy project is a $60 million apartment tower at 1163 West Peachtree. General contractor Batson-Cook Company and architectural firm Smallwood, Reynolds, Stewart, Stewart & Associates are working on that multifamily project.
