SAN DIEGO—The Hilton San Diego Mission Valley Hotel has completed a $12-million renovation. The entire property has been “reimagined,” with changes that encompass the lobby, a brand-new on-site restaurant, public spaces throughout and upgrades to the hotel's 350 guest rooms.
GlobeSt.com was unable to reach hotel management before deadline to determine the team that completed the renovations or how long the process took to finish. The goal was to achieve a “chic and sophisticated, yet casually inviting ambiance” throughout the hotel's public spaces, restaurant and guest rooms. The result, hotel management says, is a “unique, upscale offering and a premier option for business and leisure travelers in the central San Diego Mission Valley neighborhood.”
In addition to upgrades to the lobby and interior public spaces, the redesign included a new city-view executive lounge. All design upgrades feature “sleek, modern furnishings in a warm and soothing color palette with contemporary, high-quality finishes of wood, stone and fine fabrics.”
The hotel also now features 21,000 square feet of redesigned meeting and event space, including a 5,000-square-foot ballroom, 10 breakout rooms, flexible pre-function space and an exclusive demonstration kitchen, complete with retractable barn doors for privacy, a hot-stone granite buffet and warm wood finishes.
According to Mark Ziomek, general manager at Hilton San Diego Mission Valley, “It's extremely exciting to unveil a completely new hotel offering and unparalleled guest experience. Guests traveling to our area have demanded a premium business and leisure property, and the Hilton San Diego Mission Valley now delivers the best of both worlds in this convenient central location that's close to both local corporations and key San Diego attractions.”
Also featured in the hotel is the new Polanco Kitchen & Bar, which melds Latin-style cuisine with a twist of Baja flavor and offers a full selection of wines, beers and cocktails. The hotel also offers a new artisan food marketplace, with meals and light bites to-go as well as a Starbucks espresso bar and a new fitness center offering the latest equipment.
To augment the changes to the property, the hotel will introduce a new outdoor event space this spring, complete with an outdoor pool area, expansive open deck and all-new furnishings. The area will also encompass a landscaped hillside as a backdrop for special events, galas, charity functions and weddings of any size.
“This renovation reflects our continued evolution and unwavering commitment to providing our guests a world-class experience,” says Ziomek. “The completely reimagined Hilton San Diego Mission Valley sets a new gold standard for business—and pleasure—in the region.”
As GlobeSt.com reported last week, investment in existing and new hotels and increased consumer confidence bumping up travel are just two of the factors leading to the hospitality market's expected success this year, the London Group Realty Advisors' Gary London told us exclusively. We spoke with London about the hotel industry before R.A. Rauch & Associates' lodging-industry forecasting event, which he moderated March 20 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Del Mar, CA.
