NEW YORK CITY—The nation's fifth largest title insurance underwriter—Westcor Land Title Insurance Co.—is expanding into the commercial real estate arena and has opened a new office here, Globest.com has learned EXCLUSIVELY.

The firm, headquartered in Maitland, FL, has opened a new office at 488 Madison Ave. in Manhattan. The company has appointed two executives to lead its new commercial and international services division: Jason Gordon, SVP, and Carmel Caramagna, SVP/director, who will both focus on handling large commercial transactions out of the firm's New York City office. Until the company's expansion into New York City, Westcor specialized primarily in residential transactions.

“We are excited to enter the large national commercial marketplace and grow Westcor's reach,” says Gordon, who recently joined Westcor from Fidelity National Title Insurance Co. where he was vice president and counsel in the national commercial office located in New York City. He also oversaw FNF Title International Holding Co., the international title insurance division of Fidelity National Financial for six years and was on the board of directors for Fidelity National Title de Mexico and FNF Title Insurance Company Ltd.

Caramagna joined Westcor from Houston Casualty Co. where she was a senior vice president in the New York City office for the past eight years in charge of HCC's title reinsurance program. Before joining Westcor, she worked for Houston Casualty Company, ACE Capital Re and Chicago Title.

Westcor, a privately owned national title insurance underwriter with more than 1,000 agents in 48 states and 11 regional offices, wrote more than $300 million in gross premium revenues last year.
