NEW YORK CITY—JLL has hired healthcare facilities expert Susan Silverman as a SVP in its New York-based Project and Development Services group. Her responsibilities include oversight of key health care projects for JLL as well as development of new business and relationships in the healthcare sector.
Silverman has more than 30 years of experience in the health care sector and is highly skilled in the planning and design of health care-related projects. She also has years of practical experience in the day-to-day operation of hospitals and health care facilities as a hospital administrator and nurse.
“Susan was the ideal choice to assist JLL in further growing its presence in the health care industry,” says George Ladyman, international director and head of JLL's Project and Development Services group in the Northeast. “She has a great deal of experience overseeing the planning and design of health care facilities. That skill is further complemented by her hands-on knowledge of the daily operations of the health care industry from her years as a nurse and hospital administrator.”
Prior to joining JLL, Silverman served as a senior associate with architectural firm NBBJ, where she oversaw short- and long-range planning for health care projects including strategic planning, operational planning, and functional and space planning. Earlier, she worked at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where she first served as administrative director of its oncology service lineand then as director of program planning for the hospital's office of strategy. Before that, Silverman held a number of positions at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center including administrator of radiation oncology and medical physics.
In addition, Silverman has extensive practical experience in the health care industry, having worked as a nurse at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Children's Hospital Medical Center in Boston. She also served as an instructor at the College of Nursing at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago.
She serves as president elect of the Nursing Institute for Healthcare Design, and as treasurer for both the New York Society for Health Planning and Cancer101 Inc.
JLL's PDS division offers expertise in the areas of technical due diligence, building evaluations, tenant improvement fit-outs, budget/schedule impacts and/or capital budgeting, and manages relocation and build-out initiatives and development and renovation of commercial projects.
